she felt like she was drowning for so long, that when she finally washed back onto shore she mistook the water droplets running down her cheeks as tears, because that was all she had known for years / as she wiped them away it felt like she was no longer under the weight of her pain / and the only sentence to form in her brain? ‘so this is what it feels like, to feel alive again’
