Her Story

“and she embraced the chaos as it painted her life with purpose” -JH Hard

Raised in California and currently residing in Huntsville, AL you can find abstract realism artist Briana Zierman-Felix loosely painting the story of her life. Growing up she was never very good at putting feelings into words, so she found a way to turn them into art. She met with the school's counselor once a week who taught her how to draw out emotions that had been suppressed. Instead of writing letters to family members, Zierman-Felix was instructed to draw what she wanted to tell them. This technique stuck, and inadvertently she had been perfecting her craft just by coping with life the only way she knew how. Figuring along the way, if no one wanted to hear what she had to say she'd make sure they'd see it.

Her process is free-flowing and fast paced to stay in tune with each story she is trying to tell, almost like a dance with the canvas. Her paintings start with giving inks and spray paint a nudge in the right direction but allowing them to mix and move however they desire. Ultimately the end result is out of her control but she works with what she’s given using acrylic and oils to start shaping something beautiful out of the chaos created. Mimicking the way she has moved through life. A once homeless teen who never gave up on her passion of making it as a professional artist. She uses this fire of overcoming to paint symbols of strength, the characteristic she finds to be most admirable about an individual. Hoping it serves as a reminder that we are not our pain, but a beautiful product of the strength it takes to work through it.
